Pet Portraits in Acrylics

I’ve always loved animals, and my own pets, Merlin and Noodle, are very much part of the family. I know just how much joy, comfort, and companionship they bring into our lives – and how deeply they’re loved. That’s why being able to capture the essence of your beloved pet is such a privilege for me. Every portrait is painted with care, attention, and a genuine love for the unique character of the animal in front of me.

I work in acrylics because they allow me to bring out the vibrancy, detail, and personality that make each pet so special. Their fast drying time means I can build up rich layers and depth, while their durability ensures the colours stay fresh and full of life for years to come.

Choosing Your Surface

You can choose the surface (support) your pet’s portrait is painted on, depending on the look you’d like:

  • Canvas – A traditional choice with a subtle texture that adds warmth and depth. Canvases look beautiful on their own or framed, and they bring a timeless, gallery feel to your home.

  • Artist Board (Wooden Panel) – Smooth, strong, and ideal for fine detail. These rigid boards won’t warp over time and are perfect if you’d like to frame your portrait behind glass for a polished, contemporary finish.

Whichever you choose, I use only professional, archival-quality materials. Every painting is also finished with an artist-quality varnish that protects against dust and UV light – keeping your portrait safe, vibrant, and ready to treasure for a lifetime.
